Sitting Pretty With Wings: On Wing Chairs

One of the most dramatic (and comforting possibly) scenes in movies is when characters tend to collect around the fireplace, sharing stories and hot beverages while sitting in an authoritative and intimidating seats.

These seats that commonly have an ear-like mounts (however not to be mistaken as ‘ear chairs’) are referred to as wing chairs

These chairs are also referred as wing-backs or wing-back chairs.

The chair’s design and style (mounts) is intended to provide comfy guard from drafts and make sure that heat from fireside or fireplace will be trapped or preserved, therefore, way back in old times, they had been normally placed facing the fireplace.
